Ralph Boccia, MD, FACP

Ralph Boccia, MD, is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and Director of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Bethesda, Md. He is also Chief Medical Officer for ION Solutions and Oncology Medical Director for the clinical research organization (CRO) Accelovance. Dr. Boccia earned a medical degree at the University of Minnesota and completed training in internal medicine at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)–affiliated hospitals. His hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant fellowships were completed at the combined UCLA-VA Program and The National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. He is a member of many professional societies including the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology and the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation. With his vast experience and research, Dr. Boccia has published numerous articles in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, New England Journal of Medicine, British Journal of Hematology, Cancer, Blood, Annals of Internal Medicine, Lancet and Oncology. He is listed in Who’s Who in America, has been voted into Washingtonian’s Best Physicians in Washington, is listed in Best Physicians in America, and Consumers’ Checkbook’s Guide to Top Doctors in Washington, DC, every year since 1992.
Gary Grad, MD

Gary Grad, MD, completed his medical training at the University of Chicago, medical school through fellowship. He then joined Northwest Oncology and Hematology, an independent group practice in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Dr. Grad is in his 25th year of clinical practice. Northwest Oncology is a 15 physician/six Advanced Practice Nurse practice with five offices and staffs five hospitals across three hospital networks. In addition to a broad clinical practice, Dr. Grad has been involved with applications of Precision Molecular Oncology to clinical practice. He serves on the National ION Precision Oncology advisory committee, as well as the Ascension Health National Precision Oncology advisory board. Dr. Grad has worked as a consultant with companies combining tumor molecular sequencing and clinical correlations with applied analytics, to help try to actualize the promise of precision molecular oncology in real world clinical practice.
William Harwin, MD

William Harwin, MD, founded Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) in 1984 and has since guided the organization to become the largest independent oncology/hematology practice in the United States. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology, and is a former President of Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO). After receiving his bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and his medical degree (M.D.) from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Harwin completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Miami. In 1997, Dr. Harwin performed the first peripheral stem cell transplant in Lee County for a woman with breast cancer. He is a noted lecturer and has been published in leading medical journals, including the prestigious Journal of Clinical Oncology. He currently serves on the Editorial Board for the Oncology Business Review (OBR). Dr. Harwin has served as a principal investigator in numerous clinical trials throughout his career; he has been the driving force in developing the Florida Cancer Specialists Phase 1 Clinical Trials Program, which has set a national benchmark for community oncology and rivals programs at many larger academic medical centers.
Taral Patel, MD

Dr. Patel is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology. He received his M.B.B.S. from Baroda Medical College at Maharaja Sayairao University in Gujarat, India, where he completed his internship and residency in Pathology. Formerly a research associate at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Chicago’s Cook County Hospital and his fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Cincinnati. The author of many peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Patel is a member of the Community Oncology Alliance, Columbus Medical Association, The Ohio State Medical Association, Ohio Hematology Oncology Society and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

She immediately specialized in oncology and maintained her OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) from 1992-2002, when she became interested in Clinical Trials. Since 1999 she has been running oncology clinical trials and chose to become certified in Research in 2002. She has maintained her CCRC (Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) since that time and has been assisting Dr. Cuevas with the Research Program at St. Louis Cancer Care since 2010.
